First TechniDrill Gundrilling Machine to Manufacture Airplane Cylinders

Kays Engineering is shipping its first ever TechniDrill machine since acquiring the domestic gundrill machine manufacturer.

After relocating TechniDrill from their original Ohio location to Kays Engineering's facility in Missouri, the company has been supporting all existing customers with parts, service, and technical support. Now, the first TechniDrill gundrilling machine is shipping out to a New York-based company who manufactures airplane aileron actuation cylinders.

The TechniDrill 2.00-30-48 has a gundrilling diameter capacity of 2 inches (50.8 mm) and a maximum gundrilling depth of 48 inches (1219 mm). It features a 30 horsepower AC spindle motor and two-speed gearbox to provide versatile gundrilling performance.

The workpiece is counter-rotated via pneumatically operated 3-jaw chucks to increase the accuracy of the gundrilled hole. TechniDrill gundrilling machines are designed and manufactured by Kays Engineering in Marshall, Missouri, USA.
